ABOUT ME
MICHELLE DOUGLAS | MSC-QUALIFIED SPORTS NUTRITIONIST
AND FOUNDER OF MD PERFORMANCE NUTRITION

I'm Michelle Douglas, an MSc-qualified Sports Nutritionist and founder of MD Performance Nutrition. I help athletes, sports clubs and individuals across Surrey and the UK fuel performance and health with personalised, science-led nutrition. No fads, no guesswork, and no judgement.
I hold an MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition (Distinction) from St Mary's University and a First Class BSc in Human Nutrition from Kingston University. I work with clients online and in person, translating the best available evidence into practical, personalised nutrition that fits real life — and cutting through the noise of conflicting advice to give you guidance you can trust.
Qualifications & professional standing
MSc Applied Sports Nutrition (Distinction) — St Mary's University, Twickenham
BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition (First Class) — Kingston University
AfN Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr)
My route into nutrition began at home. I originally studied Economics, and when we moved to the UK in 2009 with very young children, both were diagnosed with food allergies. I started studying nutrition because I wanted to make sure I could help them grow as healthily as possible. That interest turned into a degree, and then a career. I went on to spend several years delivering NHS programmes in diabetes prevention and management, helping people make realistic, lasting changes to the way they eat.
During those years I also discovered CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting, and I've now been training for over ten years. My interest in nutrition grew with it. I became fascinated by how the foods we choose affect the way we feel when we exercise, and the direct impact they have on performance. When athletes at my local gym began approaching me for support with their nutrition, it inspired me to return to university for an MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition. I've been supporting athletes across several sports ever since, through the off-season and throughout competition.
One thing has frustrated me for a long time: how quickly nutrition misinformation spreads on social media. It bothered me enough that I chose to study it for my MSc dissertation. My research confirmed what I'd suspected. False information spreads far more quickly than accurate information, and it's extremely difficult for athletes and fitness enthusiasts to tell the difference.
That's why I do what I do. I love simplifying nutrition for my clients, taking the evidence and turning it into easy to understand terms they can apply to their routine, and working with them to make sustainable changes they can see in their day to day activity and their performance in their sport.
